Niche Analysis and Conservation of Bird Species Using Urban Core Areas

چکیده
Knowing the ecological requirements of bird species is essential for their successful conservation. We studied niche characteristics birds in managed small-sized green spaces urban core areas southern (Kavala, Greece) and northern Europe (Rovaniemi, Finland), during breeding season, based on a set 16 environmental variables using Outlying Mean Index, multivariate ordination technique. Overall, 26 Kavala 15 Rovaniemi were recorded more than 5% used detailed analyses. In both areas, occupied different niches varying marginality breadth, indicating responses to conditions. Birds showed high specialization position, with 12 (46.2%) six (40.0%) having marginal niches. Niche breadth was narrower Kavala. Species communities strongly associated either large located further away from city center vegetation cover (urban adapters; e.g., Common Chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs), European Greenfinch (Chloris chloris), Eurasian Blue Tit (Cyanistes caeruleus)) or closer gray area anthropogenic disturbance level exploiters; Western Jackdaw (Corvus monedula), House Sparrow (Passer domesticus), Magpie (Pica pica)). The eleven that common study similarly had similar niches, respond urbanization irrespective latitude. Sixteen identified as conservation priority species, status. management actions proposed will also benefit other ultimately help maintain diverse areas.

Protected areas alleviate climate change effects on northern bird species of conservation concern
Global climate change is a major threat to biodiversity, posing increasing pressures on species to adapt in situ or shift their ranges. A protected area network is one of the main instruments to alleviate the negative impacts of climate change. Importantly, protected area networks might be expected to enhance the resilience of regional populations of species of conservation concern, resulting i...

Aspergillus fumigatus is a saprophyte fungus, widely spread in a variety of ecologicalniches and the most prevalent aspergilli responsible for human and animal invasiveaspergillosis. The first step to develop novel and efficient therapies is the identificationand understanding of the key tolerance and virulence factors of pathogens. The mainfocus of the present study is to perform the similarit...

The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to amplify a 578 bp fragment of the poxvirus 4b core protein. Avipoxvirus (APV) specific DNA was detected in all 10 different isolates (each of which had been isolated from an epidemic) isolated from chicken; canary and mynah were collected from Tehran province. Sequencing was performed for 2 isolates as representative and the nucleotide sequence sho...
متن کاملDelimiting priority areas for the conservation of endemic and threatened Neotropical birds using a niche-based gap analysis
Knowledge of spatiotemporal distribution of biodiversity is still very incomplete in the tropics. This is one of the major problems preventing the assessment and effectiveness of conservation actions. Mega-diverse tropical regions are being exposed to fast and profound environmental changes, and the amount of resources available to describe the distribution of species is generally limited. Thus...
متن کاملUsing kernels and ecological niche modeling to delineate conservation areas in an endangered patch-breeding phenotype.
Efficient delineation of conservation areas is a great challenge in maintaining biodiversity. Kernel density estimators (KDEs) are a powerful tool in this perspective, but they have not been applied at the population level on patch-distributed organisms. This would be particularly worthy for species that need broad habitats beyond those where they can be sampled; such as terrestrial lands for p...
